September 11th 10th Anniversary ceremony Wed, 31 Aug 2011 16:45:34 +0000 Continue reading ]]> Like other communities and organizations across the United States, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Green Bay will mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a ceremony honoring those who died and those who responded.

The ceremony is scheduled at 8:30 am Sunday, September 11th on the front lawn of the church located on Oneida Street in Green Bay.
The joint effort by Ashwaubenon VFW Post 10244, the Green Bay Police Department and the Green Bay Fire Department will feature the singing of our National Anthem, the presentation of colors from the Police Department, a reading of the timetable of events of that day, the playing of taps and 21 gun salute, concluding with the singing of “God Bless America”.

Commemorating events like the 10th anniversary of 9/11 gives people the opportunity to come together as a community.  “This has affected so many lives in so many ways.  Every community throughout our nation should take the time to remember and honor the innocents and those who died to help others.” says Pastor Pett.   It’s important to connect with others who share an experience, care and compassion.

Attendees may wish to bring blankets and chairs. In case of bad weather, the event will be moved inside the church.

2013 National Youth Gathering Mon, 22 Aug 2011 13:00:27 +0000 Continue reading ]]> The 2013 National Youth Gathering is being held in San Antonio July 1 thru 5.

The Gathering theme is "Live Love[d]" based on I John 4:9:

"This is how God showed his love among us:

He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." (NIV 1984)

So just what is the National Youth Gathering? From the NYG website:

The National LCMS Youth Gathering provides youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God’s people to:

  • be affirmed in their lives as God's people
  • nurture their relationship with others in the church
  • celebrate their salvation in Jesus Christ through Word and Sacrament
  • recognize that youth ministry happens in a variety of settings in their parish, community and world

Held every three years, LCMS Youth Gatherings provide young people an opportunity to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity. During the five-days of the Gathering youth spend time together in worship, God’s Word, prayer, song and service. This event is organized by LCMS Youth Ministry in Saint Louis, Missouri.
