You are a New Creation!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Solomon writes in Song of Songs 2:11-12 (ESV) (or Song of Solomon, depending on which translation you are using), “for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. 12 The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”
If you remember my article from last month’s newsletter, I began with “April showers bring…” So now as we are actually headed into May, we need to think about the beauty of Spring. We awaken to mornings that are filled with the sights and sounds of life. Fresh green grass, trees with sprouting leaves, tulips and daffodils poking through the ground and beginning to flower, birds chirping throughout the day. New life is clearly seen and heard all around us.
So I have to ask the question, is that new life clearly seen and heard in you? By His resurrection, Jesus has given new life to all who believe in Him. This doesn’t mean that we will only receive this new life when we die, or when He comes again in glory. This means that we have new life now, from the moment that we believe in Him, from the moment of faith, from the moment of our baptism. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV), “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Seeing and hearing this new life should mean that people around us should be able to witness the signs of that new life in us, by what we do, by how we speak, by how we love, and by how we interact with each other. New life isn’t just what we will have in the future, new life is what we have and are right now through faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior. His love and His ways and His Word should pervade every part of our lives and our human interactions.
Jesus had given us new life. May it be seen and heard in all of us and let us live it for Him!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Paul Pett
