Have You Not Known? Have You Not Heard?
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The passage that came to mind as I begin to write this letter is Isaiah 40:28-31(ESV):
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might He increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
There have been quite a few days this summer of 90-degree heat, with high humidity. I don’t know about you, but it seems to be taking its toll on me. I’m feeling more tired and drained than usual. I know that it is the weather because when the temperature is in the 70s to low 80s, and the humidity is low, I feel great and energetic.
However, I always feel more energized when I’ve take the time for daily devotions and the time for prayer. God feeds my mind and soul, renews strength to my body. These are the gifts that He promises and provides for those who look to Him, trust in Him, and wait on Him. He not only wants us to endure, but also to have the strength to help others in the midst of things that are tiring them and draining them of strength.
Turn to Him and watch and feel His renewing and strengthening gifts!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Paul K. Pett
