Prepare Him Room

Dear Friends in Christ,

December and Advent go hand in hand. It’s all about preparation.

Are we more concerned with how things look on the outside or how they look on the inside? We may spend a great deal of time and money on decorations for our homes, both the exterior and the interior, while also spending a great deal of time and effort to display all those decorations. But are we spending as much time working on the interior of our hearts, minds, and souls as we are on the decorations that we are putting up?

In the first verse of "Joy to the World," we sing, “Let every heart prepare Him room”. This is a phrase that deserves more than mere lip service. During Advent, taking the extra time out of our busy scheduled to attend Advent services on Wednesday evenings needs to be a much higher priority.

Without Christ in Christmas, we miss the true meaning of the celebration. Without Christ coming to us in His Word, we miss the true meaning of why He came to earth. He wants to reign as king in our hearts, and to bestow on us the bounty of His gifts of grace. To truly have the Christmas spirit, we need the Spirit working through the Word, to enrich us with these gifts!
Jesus came to dwell on earth to bring us the gift of life and salvation. He wants to dwell in your hearts to bring that gift to you personally.

Will you take the time and prepare Him room?

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Paul Pett
